Evaluation of the Book
I finished this book in five to six hours. It is an excellent read for teens who like horror comedy. And also for adults who prefer light reading. There was an anecdote halfway through the book that gave away the culprit. So, the only thing left for me was to enjoy the plot unfold itself.
There was a moment where I thought the culprit was someone else. But, I discarded the thought and stuck to the original culprit. And I was happy when my guess turned out to be correct.
What I Liked and Disliked?
There were incidents that could’ve been explained better such as:
The climax where the police arrive on the scene - how did they know which one to arrest? Because, both Suze and the culprit had succumbed to injuries.
When did the culprit get the opportunity to tamper the brakes?
What was Jesse discussing with the Angels on the beach?
There were plots that I rolled over laughing:
Sleepy and Dopey drooling over Gina.
Suze being called ‘The Lady’ - considering she has a sassy persona.
The cat - Spike, who goes running when Jesse is around. Except, Jesse is a ghost, which is weird as cats are supposed to avoid the supernatural.
Well, these were some of the plots that I liked and disliked. It was hard to list them out without revealing the entire story.
There were sections that I haven’t mentioned because of the risk of exposing the crux of the story.
Should You Read Mean Spirits?
If you’re a teenager who’s obsessed with the Ghostbusters movie then it’s a yes. And for others who want to try a different genre then why not. But, read the 1st part of the Mediator series - Love You to Death, before hopping on to Mean Spirits.
